05/30/09 FABULOUS!! That is the word I
use to describe Fancy. She came to stay with us last Thursday and has fit
into our family beautifully. I can't say enough good things about this
lovely girl. She gets along with the other 3 dogs, and is becoming good
friends with Eve (also
looking for her forever home here at AABR), our Senior boxer, and our feisty
little Chihuahua mix as well.
Fancy is quite fascinated by our birds, and the cat, but it appears to be
more curiosity about them than anything. I expect this is the first time she
has lived with birds and a cat. She appears to be housetrained at this point
as she hasn't had any accidents, but she is crated for now when I am not
home until we know for sure. She has also been perfect in her crate & seems
to prefer to have her meals there. She has claimed an old squeaky rubber toy
as her own & takes it with her everywhere, though gives it up willingly when
I ask her for it.
She doesn't seem to know any verbal commands, such as sit, stay, etc.,
but we are working on sit and she seems to be getting the hang of it. Last
Saturday she went to Petsmart for her first Adoption day, and she was just
as happy as she could be to meet everyone, dogs & people alike. She did very
well with the children who came by, and they all got a gentle boxer hug and
their faces covered in kisses. I was really quite thrilled with how
wonderfully she did, since she has had so much change in her life lately I
wasn't too sure how she would react. This girl is an absolute dream come
true. She is so sweet, and lovable. She has the biggest brown eyes I have
ever seen, and I swear you can see right into her soul through them. She
follows me everywhere and it is obvious that she is grateful for some love
and attention, and can't wait to return it. I find myself constantly
stopping to hug her & kiss her on the head. She loves a good game of tug of
war, and now that she's recovering from her spay surgery she's happy to have
a good wrestling match with Eve. She just brings out the best in people
despite the obvious mistreatment she has suffered.
She is very thin, and has obviously born too many litters for such a
young dog, but a few good meals and some TLC is all she needs to blossom.
Won't you be the loving family that Fancy needs and deserves. Please apply
to be Fancy's forever home.

Meet Fancy, a sweet and energetic boxer girl estimated to be around 3
years old. Fancy was a found as a stray and brought to a shelter. We
think Fancy has had multiple litters before coming into rescue.
She will be going into a foster home soon and they will be working on her
housebreaking and basic commands. Fancy was reported to be OK with cats -
but she does like to chase when they run. She has wanted to play with all
other dogs that she has met. Fancy traveled well in the car and gave out a
lot of kisses to everybody.
We will update Fancy's page once her new foster home knows more about
her. Fancy is going to make a great addition to a very lucky family! |

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read the
information on our
Adoption Procedures,
then fill out an
online application.
Boxers and Applicants
are not matched on a first come, first served basis.
Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes
between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an
approved applicant, depending
on your personal circumstances and flexibility.
Matching Boxers suitable for placement
with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special
needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review
time and adoption time.
And yes, we
realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted
before you're approved. Should your first choices all ready
found their forever home, we want you to advise
us as to other dogs you are interested in at
Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com . Or let
us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.
That is what we are good at. And be happy for the
ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many
fantastic dogs waiting in their place.
Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful
Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a
Boxer.
We hope you feel that
the right Boxer is worth waiting for.
