has gained weight and strength, and is ready for her forever home. The
staff at the vet hospital have her meds once again regulated. (She had
been without them while in the shelter.)
Queenie has a beautiful gait, and prances as she walks when she is happy.
She just needs a comfortable home with a nice backyard. She loves to
lay on the grass and drink up the sun, The eye drops regulate
her need to pee and drink, so easy access to the outdoors would be great for
Queenie.
This senior needs your compassion, a little care, love, and not much
more. Have you the right stuff?

06/26/08 - Queenie is safe!
It's hard to see any dog suffering, and I think
it's worse when it's a senior. But it's really hard when it's one of
our own that was adopted years ago, and now to see her like this...
She is emaciated and had trouble getting up, but
she is safe and with your help, we will get her health back and find her a
good home.
We need a good foster or forever home for this
great gal.

One of our adopted dogs, an older female, has ended up in a shelter. She
was adopted many years ago and her owner has now ended up in a hospital.
Apparently about 5 weeks ago this happened, and the person that she was
living with put Queenie in the shelter. One of our volunteers was working
hard to help this older female in the shelter, and we've just learned she
was ours.
Queenie was adopted in October of 2002. Queenie has Diabetes Insipidus,
sometimes referred to as the "other diabetes". Queenie must get daily medication
in the form of eye drops. We believe she has been without it
for some time.
Queenie loves people and even gets along good with cats! In the past Queenie took a while to warm up to other dogs, and with age,
this probably has not changed.
We are completely full, and need a foster home to step up to help us help
this great gal.

QUEENIE NEEDS YOUR HELP!!!
Queenie is a beautiful 3 year old brindle female Boxer who
has received a fresh start in life by coming into rescue. When
Queenie was surrendered to the shelter by her family they told the
staff that she drank a lot of water. Her excessive drinking was
noted at the shelter, and once again confirmed in one of our foster
homes.
Drinking heavily is not uncommon when dogs are under stress, however
Queenie's water consumption proved to be a medical condition. After
a series of many tests, Queenie has been diagnosed with Diabetes
Insipidus (also known as water diabetes). This is not to be mistaken
for diabetes mellitus/sugar diabetes. Luckily this disorder can be
completely controlled with daily medication given as eye drops.
When a dog has Diabetes Insipidus they lack the hormone that
regulates water intake. The result is excessive thirst, drinking,
and urination. Queenie’s paperwork tells us that her previous family
kept her in the garage. No doubt poor Queenie had this problem all
along and was never given the medical workup that would have gotten
her help.
Queenie is ready for adoption, and a new life, now that her health
problem has been diagnosed and treatment has been started.
Unfortunately the cost of the medication that Queenie needs is very
high. The doctors are still in the process of regulating the exact
amount of medication that she will need, but we estimate the cost to
be 3 to 5 dollars a day.
Queenie is currently staying at a veterinary hospital and needs a
foster home immediately. Queenie loves people, craves attention, and
will make someone a sweet loyal companion. Please consider either
adding Queenie to your family (on a temporary or permanent basis),
and/or helping to sponsor the cost of her medication. Queenie
certainly deserves to have a normal life. Are you willing to help?

Boxers and Applicants
are not matched on a first come, first served basis.
Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes
between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an
approved applicant, depending
on your personal circumstances and flexibility.
Matching Boxers suitable for placement
with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special
needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review
time and adoption time.
And yes, we
realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted
before you're approved. Should your first choices all ready
found their forever home, we want you to advise
us as to other dogs you are interested in at
Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com . Or let
us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.
That is what we are good at. And be happy for the
ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many
fantastic dogs waiting in their place.
Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful
Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a
