Gus is still looking for a forever home. He is a really sweet dog. He is doing well in his foster home, but would love a home to call his own. He is able to be left home alone for short periods of time. He likes to play with a neighbor's female dog. He will do best in a home with someone around most the time. Please apply to give this wonderful dog a forever home.

Included are some new photos of Gus.  Please offer to foster or adopt this sweet boy!

Poor Gus is still in need of a forever home. He suffers from separation anxiety and needs someone who is around a good part of the time. If he is left home alone, he will need to be crated and Gus does well in the crate with his favorite bone. He would do best as an only dog or with a submissive female. Everyone who meets Gus thinks he is a real sweetheart. Gus would fit into a senior's home or a "work from home" home, or someone who can take their dog to work with them. Do you have a big enough heart to include this wonderful senior dog in your life?

Gus had his final heartworm treatment and he is doing well. I had the pleasure of spending some time with him and he is really a sweet boy. We fondly refer to him as Gustave, which we think is much more fitting for this handsome boxer boy. He is good with other dogs and children.  Gus does this cute dance on his hind legs when excited. My heart breaks that this poor boy has to stay in the kennel. The kennel is no place for a senior dog.  The weather in the northeast has put a damper on adoptions, so our dogs are staying longer in their foster homes. Please consider giving this sweet senior a foster or forever home.

Our sweet 7 year old Gus is still in a kennel. We sprung him for the weekend to attend the Petsmart adoption event. He was such a good boy. He was good with people of all sizes and all dogs that came to say hello. A kennel is no place for a senior boxer. Is there anyone willing to put a roof over his head and give him a warm bed in exchange for unconditional love? Please apply today to foster or adopt Gus.  Included below is a link to a recent video for Gus:

Gus was found as a stray at a construction site in New York.  The family that found him thinks he is a great dog, but they have 3 dogs already and can not keep him. Gus is people friendly and dog friendly. He is a light heartworm positive, and has already gone for his first treatment and is doing well. Gus needs a new foster home as soon as possible.  The family he is currently fostered with can only keep him for another 2 weeks at the most. Please apply to foster or adopt this sweet boy.

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read our Adoption Procedure, by clicking on the link at the top of this page, then fill out an online application.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.

Matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us as to other dogs you are interested in at Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com .  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.

We hope you feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.
