Amore is still looking for a great match. She needs a family who understands her high energy and the need for continued training. If Amore is placed with another dog, introductions will need to be done slowly. Given time, Amore has acclimated really well with her foster brother, who is a submissive boy. She needs a home with a fenced yard for daily play and exercise. If you have the right environment for this beautiful girl, apply today to adopt Amore!

Amore is an adorable, athletic, and petite girl that has a career in agility if her new family should be interested in that activity. She does great on leash, but can get insecure in new experiences. She loves to play with her boxer brother. Amore does well in her crate, but she is still working on housetraining – which is not a surprise based on her circumstances. Amore is a quick learner and now sits for treats and when putting on her leash. She is making progress with each week and is going to be a wonderful addition to a lucky family!

This is the story of Amore. She is a petite boxer estimated around a year old and weighing 40 pounds. This girl has had such a rough start in life. Amore is from Puerto Rico. She found herself as a stray during Hurricane Maria. She took cover under a car port as the elements came at her from all sides. Miraculously, she survived on her own through the storms. With only some scarring and bumps, Amore was found by caring people and taken in by her finders. They knew she deserved a good life. As we all know, Puerto Rico suffered so much devastation and went weeks without power. Her finders knew her best chance at a new life would be here, in the states. They reached out looking for help and the timing was right. Her advocate flew her first class to New York and stayed with her in a hotel overnight. She was cared for by a no kill animal shelter in New York until her transfer to AABR. Amore is reported to be a sweet girl who is learning how to be a dog that is no longer in survival mode. She is playful and very puppy like. Amore will need someone to teach her the basics. She loves people and gets excited easily. Amore is now in a foster home in Maryland. She is getting along well with her foster brother, a male boxer. We will provide another update once her foster family gets t know Amore better.  Apply today if you are interested in giving this sweet girl a forever home!
