Message for "Name a Dog" donation:
Thank you, Christiana Nichols, for giving Beatrice her name.

Beatrice has been in her foster home for almost two months. This is the note we just got from her foster family.
Oh my, I just saw the “Fall in Love with Seniors” Facebook post with Beatrice’s picture and I remembered that I hadn’t sent in an update. That post made me so happy because Beatrice is truly the poster child for why everyone should have a senior boxer! The first week or so, she essentially did three things: she slept, she ate, and she gave wonderful boxer kisses. Now that she has gained some weight (almost 10 pounds!) and settled in, she still enjoys napping and eating – but Beatrice has perfected the boxer kisses and added snuggling on the couch to her repertoire. The other things on her list of favorite things are going for walks to look for squirrels, visiting neighbors, doing short “boxer burns” around the house, and grabbing or throwing the occasional toy.

Beatrice did fine in the crate during the first week when we were “crate and rotating” but since then, she hasn’t been crated. I can comfortably leave the house for a few hours or a full work day and I don’t have to worry about anything. She gets along super with my dog (senior boxer-mix) but has also enjoyed meeting every dog we meet on our walks. Her intake write-up indicated that she was anemic. The follow-up bloodwork looked great! I think her body just needed a little food, some TLC, and a comfortable place to rest her head. I’ll keep you posted!

This sweet girl was found as a stray and taken to a shelter in West Virginia. AABR was contacted and with the help of fellow rescuers, she was quickly moved to a vet’s office. The vet estimated Beatrice to be around 8-10 yrs old. She was very thin, weighing only 42 lbs. Bloodwork indicated that Beatrice was anemic. Once she gains some weight and is in better shape, Beatrice will need a dental.  She just arrived at her new foster home, where Beatrice will be getting the TLC she needs. We will update her page once her foster mom learns more about Beatrice.
