6/01/21 – Memorial
It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that we share the news that Clyde passed away at 1:00 this morning. He slipped into unconsciousness and within minutes, his heart stopped. Despite the emergency team’s best efforts to resuscitate him, they were unable to bring him back. Clyde was only 5 years of age. The puppy mill owners took everything they could from him. When he had nothing left, they discarded him like trash. They most likely never thought of him again once he left their farm. We have not stopped thinking about him once, not even for a minute since he left that farm. We will try not to remember how he looked at our volunteer as she carried him out to the car on his final trip to the specialty hospital. We will try to remember Clyde as the sweet, unassuming, compliant gentleman that we only got to know and love for a few short days. Clyde left the world knowing that he mattered. He left knowing that people were fighting for him, praying for him, and loving him. He knew loving hands, soft words, warm meals, and his favorite pink blanket. Sleep well, sweet Clyde. You took a piece of our hearts with you when you left us. We will save another mill dog in your honor.
The neurologist has indicated that Clyde most likely has swelling in his brain. He is on steroids and medications to reduce this swelling. Clyde will have an MRI to show exactly what is going on with his brain.
Clyde was just released from an Amish puppy mill. He is a sweet, well mannered gentleman who gets along with everyone he meets. A few days after his arrival, Clyde was found unresponsive and rushed to the emergency vet.
