Dexter would love to find a forever home for the holidays! He is dog friendly, but should be placed in a home without cats. He also needs a home without children. Dexter is a big, strong boy and he might unintentionally knock people down, especially with his antics when greeting people. Dexter loves to snuggle and will hop right in your lap if you allow him. Before he can earn that status in his new home, though, it will need to be well established that you are the leader and he is not in charge. Dexter needs a firm, experienced owner to teach him boundaries and manners. In the 3 months since Dexter arrived in rescue, he has already learned so much. Dexter is now housebroken and uses the dog door. He is crate trained and walks well on leash. Dexter is a handsome boy with beautiful markings.
Dexter has settled in well at his foster home. He knows a lot of commands and does well in his crate when alone. Dexter gets along with his foster siblings, but would do best in a home without cats. He also needs a forever home without children. Dexter will require very strict boundaries and a home willing to continue his training.
Dexter has been returned to rescue to find a better match. He is very mouthy and would do best in home without children. Dexter is quick to take charge in his home, so needs an experienced adopter who will create firm boundaries and consistency for Dexter. He finished his heartworm treatment and was neutered last month. We will update Dexter’s page once he gets settled back into his previous foster home.
9/19/17 – Adopted
Dexter is settling in at his foster home. He is a big boy and very energetic. Dexter is doing well with the other dogs, but would do best in a home without cats. He should have a secure, fenced yard to run and play in. Dexter’s foster home had been working on some training and manners. He is scheduled to receive his heartworm treatment next week.
Dexter was found as a stray and is estimated to be around 2-3 yrs of age. He did fantastic on his dog tests at the shelter and just wanted to play. Dexter just arrived at his new foster home and is doing well. He is a high energy, young boy who needs some work on his manners. Dexter was tested as heartworm positive at the shelter, which we have been seeing more often in Maryland. He will begin treatment once he gets settled in.
