9/29/18 – Memorial
Sometimes a dog comes into AABR who grabs all of our hearts. King Tut was one of them. Five months ago, we rescued him from a NYC shelter. He came in as a stray and we found out he had lymphoma. We knew whatever time he had left was precious. An AABR foster family stepped up and welcomed him with open arms, knowing his prognosis. They took him to his chemo appointments, spoiled him with love, introduced him to new friends, and brought him along on all of their adventures. Tut was the sweetest soul. He loved feeling the wind through his ears while out on the boat. He felt so free. Tut loved going for hikes with his buddy. He truly loved life. Last week, Tut grew tired of fighting that awful disease and he crossed the rainbow bridge. We are heartbroken. Run free, sweet boy.
Tut is doing extremely well after his second chemo treatment. He is a playful ball of energy with his doggy siblings and he enjoys going to work with his foster mom whenever he can. Tut will have his third chemo treatment on July 14th. Please help us with his medical bills at whatever amount you can. This boy deserves the best chance at life. He is a little angel! This is King Tut. He is one of the sweetest dogs we have met. Tut was a stray to the NYC shelter, where they suspected he had Lymphoma and asked rescue to help him. Thankfully, one of our committed foster homes stepped up for him, knowing the probable prognosis.
Tut has seen our vet, who has confirmed that he does have Lymphoma. Tut had an oncologist appointment and emergency surgery to remove a necrotic and infected lymph node. When he has healed, we will discuss the next steps for treatment. At most, he likely only has 3-6 months – so Tut will be remaining as a forever foster placement. Tut is a happy, energetic boy and does not yet know he is sick.
The surgery alone will cost $3600, but it is necessary to remove the infection and give Tut the quality time he deserves with us. We will collectively make Tut’s life as fun as we can by doing as many new and exciting things with him as possible so he can enjoy the time he has left. This includes playing with his foster brothers and sisters, beach trips on Long Island and in New Jersey, weeks here and there in NYC to the park, plenty of car rides where he can enjoy the wind in his face, and whatever else is on Tut’s bucket list.
Please donate what you can to help us cover his surgery, future vet bills, and medications. Tut’s fundraiser link is below:
