Leo was a rescue dog someone was giving away for free following the 2020 Midwest derecho. We told people he was a pit/boxer mix because we were scared to say he came from two pit bulls and appeared mixed with something, but we hadn’t yet done a DNA test. At just 3 months old on Thanksgiving, he got into mouse bait and After going to the pet hospital had to be put down due to internal bleeding in his lungs. They were unable to give him a blood transfusion. I had said I would never get a pit bull Because of their reputation, but he was so good with our young girls and I want to continue to send awareness of how great pit bulls really can be.

Leo was found as a stray in West Virginia and is estimated to be around 2 years old. The person that found him indicated they heard a car stop in their driveway and then drive away. Leo was found on their porch and he was not reclaimed after being taken to the shelter. He did well with his dog test at the shelter and just recently arrived at his foster home in Maryland with two female boxers. Leo is a very sweet boy, but he is very scared right now. He wants to be included, but is very quick to dart with sudden movements. Leo gains a lot of confidence from the other dogs in his foster home, so we would like to place him in a forever home with a female dog. His foster mom reports that he is completely housebroken. Leo is doing well on leash, but he does get spooked by loud noises or cars passing by. He would do best in a quiet home with a securely fenced yard.
