Lucas is doing fabulous in his foster home after having his leg amputated. He is healing great and loving his pain free life. This five year old boy loves children and is dog friendly. Lucas deserves an amazing home after all he has been through.

Lucas had his leg amputation surgery at The Animal Medical Center in Manhattan, NY by one of the tri states best orthopedic surgeons. Lucas is now pain free and enjoying his summer. He zips around the yard and has no issues getting around at all. Lucas is super social and enjoys meeting new people. This boy enjoys being pet and is a master at doing the boxer lean in hopes of receiving even more pets. Lucas is dog and kid friendly. He would make a wonderful addition to just about any home.

Based on the orthopedic consult, it was determined that Lucas will need to have his leg amputated. We will update his page after his surgery. Please consider donating towards his care.

Lucas was picked up by animal care and control immediately after he was hit by a car. He suffered from a complex fracture in his rear leg, multiple lacerations and he had blood in his lungs from the impact of the hit. Lucas’ owners were notified and signed him over to the shelter while he was fighting for his life. Lucas spent close to 5 weeks at a specialty hospital, receiving 2 very complicated orthopedic surgeries on his rear leg. He lost approximately 15 lbs and was starting to shut down. Our volunteer called the shelter every day for 5 weeks, begging for Lucas to be released into rescue. AABR was finally able to pull Lucas after the shelter and hospital had given up hope on him.

Lucas is still not using his leg that they had performed the surgeries on. We have him scheduled to see one of the top orthopedic surgeons on the east coast. He is a very sweet, docile boy who loves to give kisses. After everything he has been through, Lucas still enjoys playing with his toys and being with the two children in his foster home. We will update more on this brave little guy after his orthopedic consult.
