03/27/17 – Polo will be spending the next few weeks working with a trainer. We will update his page and hope to report progress when we know more.
Polo is a special guy with special needs. He needs a boxer savvy foster or forever home that is home most of the time and will work with a trainer to help Polo with his anxieties. His current foster works long hours away from home. Polo seems to be good with other dogs, but slow introduction is always best. Although he lived with kids, for now he should go to a home without kids.
He needs a hero who has the time and skills to help him. Working with a dog to help them through problems is very rewarding. AABR will help with the costs of his trainer.
Polo is doing ok in his foster home, but we are looking for an adopter who is there often for him. He is still nervous around new situations and when left alone. Somebody who is retired or works from home would be ideal for Polo. He needs continued work with crate training and learning how to be comfortable when left alone.
Polo was surrendered to the shelter by his owner. He is a 4 yr old boxer who has lived with children ages 8 and 10 yrs. Polo was relaxed and playful around them. He has never been around other dogs or cats. Polo is reported to be friendly with new people. His owner described him as playful and excitable with a very high activity level. When at home, Polo will follow his owner around. He is house trained.
Polo was very fearful at the shelter. He just arrived at his foster home and is very nervous. Polo will need time to decompress in his foster home so we can learn more about him and what kind of home will be appropriate.
