7/25/20 – Memorial
With a very heavy, broken heart we must post that Roxie could not fight any longer. She suffered at the hands of humans who withheld medical care at the pet store. The amazing veterinarians tries to save Roxie, but her body could not recover from the neglect. Roxie died never having her own family, but she had the love of our volunteers and our supporters.
This is Roxie. She was just surrendered to us from a pet store. At only 12 weeks of age, Roxie is so sick that she is struggling to breathe. She is emaciated and has severe cage feet. Roxie is coughing, vomiting, and is unable to hold her balance. Despite the horrid condition that Roxie is in, she looked at our volunteer with a wagging tail and hope that something better was to come. Our AABR volunteer rushed Roxie to an emergency hospital where she was admitted as a critical patient. All of us at AABR are hoping that it is not too late for Roxie and we are ready to fight for her life. Poor Roxie languished alone, in the back of a pet store, for way too long. She is what is known as a “Boxador.” This is a designer breed of a Boxer and a Labrador Retriever. We are doing everything in our power to seek justice for Roxie. Please speak up and educate others about the cruelty of pet stores and the puppy mills that supply them. We need your support to help this girl survive – please consider donating towards her care.
