5/22/20 – Memorial
Tucker sadly lost his battle with DM today and crossed to the Rainbow Bridge with his foster family by his side.

Tucker is continuing to do his best as he adjusts to life with DM and the struggles that come with it. His foster family is giving him all the love and support any boxer could dream of.  Because of his advanced symptoms, Tucker will be remaining with his foster family.

Tucker is learning to make adjustments to help him better deal with his DM. He is taking everything in stride and is a very happy guy. Tucker enjoys watching TV on the sofa and face-timing with his human foster brother, who is away at college.

Tucker came to us from an Amish puppy mill. They surrendered him to rescue because he was too old to breed. They failed to tell us that he was having issues with his hind legs. When he first arrived at his foster home, his foster mom immediately noticed something was off about his gait. After many consults with neurologists, Tucker has been diagnosed with Degenerative Myelopathy. DM is quite similar to Lou Gehrig’s disease in humans. It affects the dogs hind limbs over time, causing them to lose function.

Tucker is in the early stages of DM. Dogs with DM can and do live a life of quality, they just need assistance walking. Tucker enjoys the company of his foster sister and his human foster brother. In his spare time, he likes to chew on appropriate nylabones and play soccer in his yard. Please consider a special needs dog like Tucker. Without adopters willing to overlook their handicap, we can’t offer refuge to other deserving dogs that are perfectly imperfect.

Tucker is now in foster. This sweet boy will make a family very happy. He is fully vetted and ready for his forever home. This guy is kid friendly and loves female dogs. Please be his hero and submit an application to adopt Tucker.

Tucker is a retired mill man who is quite the gentleman. He was fortunate enough to live some of the time in the miller’s home, so he does have house manners. Tucker is great with children and female dogs. He should be placed in a home without small dogs or cats.  Stay tuned for details on Tucker as we get to know him better.
